FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is Life Coaching?

Life Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires clients to maximize their personal and professional potential. Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives.

Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives. Coaches are trained to listen, to observe, and to customize their approach to individual client needs.

They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.

  • How much are life coaching sessions?

Research shows that the relationship you have with your coach is the deciding factor on whether progress will be made or not.  In order to effectively move forward and see positive results, you have to connect with your coach.  We want you to tackle your obstacles, unpack your dreams, and live big, even if that means that you choose to not work with Stop the Madness.

We offer all new clients a complimentary 50-minute coaching session. During this time, we can see if we are a good fit for each other.  If we decide to move forward, then a coaching package to fit your individual needs will be designed for you. Prices vary from packages (12 sessions for $1050) to $90 a session schedule as needed.

  • How long is a session?

Our sessions are 50 minutes in length. If clients are interested in or would benefit from a longer session, we are also able to provide services in 75-minute or 100-minute increments. The cost of these sessions is prorated based on the cost of a 50-minute session.

  • How many sessions will I need?

We customize sessions to each individual client, and therefore can’t predict how many sessions it will take for each client to reach their goals. We have worked with some clients that come in with one specific issue they want to address, and when these clients are ready and able to complete homework assignments each week, they tend to move through sessions relatively quickly. In other cases, clients may have more complex challenges and/or busy lives and setting aside even 50 minutes a week to come to coaching is a feat for them. For these clients, coaching may take a longer time. We will work with you at your pace, and our hope is to help you reach your goals and to reap the benefits of coaching as quickly as possible.

  • How often are sessions?

In order to provide effective coaching, we ask our clients to attend sessions weekly at the start. Once we have identified that progress is being made and goals are being met, we will reduce the frequency of sessions in preparation for wrapping up coaching, at which point, we will invite clients to return if they ever need additional support or a “tune-up.”

  • What makes Stop the Madness different?

Our Professional Coaches and our commitment to providing effective and supportive coaching. Our founder, Alex, has had experiences and education from a wide variety of fields that allow her expertise to be broad, yet her approach is personalized to each individual's needs. She has received her own therapy and life coaching walking through the complexities that clients face when needing effective change.

When dealing with life on life’s terms a life coach must be aware of how the client views the world - most life coaches do not have a Master’s in Mental Health to support the client through the personal issues that affect their ability to see themselves and the world. At Stop the Madness we have found that Life Coaching with education and an understanding of Mental Health has increased client development, success, and overall, life satisfaction.

  • How does coaching work?

Our brains are organic computers, we train them by either being eager for new inputs or . . . neglecting change by doing the same things over and over again. Yikes! Coaching works with having intentionality towards oneself and the goals we are trying to reach. How do we do this? By re-wiring our brains using our thoughts. The more thought traffic a pathway uses, the stronger they become. Every time you repeat an action, this reinforces a thought pathway and the steps you took to get there. Over time we are making the connection stronger and more secure. The question is . .  is this connection enhancing or negatively impacting your life? Identifying and changing unproductive thought processes and habits are extremely difficult to do on your own, that’s where a professional coach can help. The fact is evidenced based approaches reflect that you can change your thoughts, which changes your behavior. . . which changes your LIFE.

  • Is coaching therapy?

This is a question that we get asked often. Coaching is not therapy. As our founder, Alex has a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, she is not providing therapy treatment. When you begin therapy, the client is required to sign an Informed Consent for treatment – similar to the consent when you visit your doctor. Life Coaching is an agreed-upon partnership between the client and the Coach. There are NO signed informed consent, formal diagnoses, or treatment plans.

  • Do you offer group opportunities?

We are currently working to offer groups to help folks manage a variety of challenges. We have found that groups can be incredibly effective and for many, are less cost-prohibitive. We invite you to reach out to us if you’re interested in joining one of our groups!

  • Do you offer phone or video sessions?

Yes! We offer phone sessions or video online life coaching sessions. We have found that video sessions can be not just incredibly effective, but also convenient, especially for those with tight schedules, or who travel for work.
